Our story

A Konkan legacy, carried forward

How one household from a small village of Waghivare became a family of multiple talents — and why we still call it home.

The magical city, Bombay — cements the roots of the next generation.

Our marks

The Rumanis seal

The seal mark

The seal, the monogram and the name

The seal’s four interlocking flourishes gather around a single R — many branches, one root.

The monogram R stands alone on small things; the full “The Rumanis” signature carries the name into the world.

“Alishaan” — magnificent — was how Ali Sheth described it. Alishaan 2.0 is our promise to keep it so.

The founder

The person behind Alishaan 2.0

The Rumanis began as a question Asif Rumani kept returning to: how do you keep a family that now lives across cities and continents feeling like one household?

His answer was to build it a home. Asif created The Rumanis — the name, the marks and this site — as one place where the family tree, the photographs and the talents of every generation live together, and where anyone who carries the name can add what they know.

The original restaurant is named “Alishaan” — magnificent, a home for a large many relatives and known ones. Alishaan 2.0 is Asif’s name for this new home: not a building this time, but the same open door.
